Test and overview of Madison, a new Mummykins and Me PDF pattern
Choose from simple collar or the timeless tie neck (aka pussy bow) which I sewed up and show here. There's also a faux tie option.
As with many Mummykins and Me patterns, the Madison is offered in girls' (newborn to 12 years) and women's (XXS to 5XL) sizing.
Short, long, and puff sleeve options are included. The top of the sleeve can be gathered or pleated. The long sleeves include slit detailing. For the test, I sewed pleated short sleeves.
Madison can also be made in dress length.
Madison features an angled yoke with gentle gathers in front and back.
Both timeless and trendy, Madison's look is one I'll sew again and again. I was originally turned on to this pattern because it's a great basic for school uniforms. But (SIGH) those are a bit boring. I'm glad I went with this fun print for testing. There will be plenty of time for solid white, light, grey, or navy blouses in my future.
Can we just stop and marvel for a moment at how well the pattern placement is on my placket? I would love to tell you my secret to a wonderfully pattern-matched placket. Truth is, I just got really lucky. REALLY LUCKY. I only had 1 yard of this print which was not enough fabric for fussy cutting. Hot damn, it turned out well, though! I couldn't be happier.
