A child of the 80’s, I grew up with a sewing machine in the home with home ec still being taught in school. So, while I always knew how to sew, it wasn’t until 2013 that I bought my first machine, a Brother, to make nursery linens for my daughter. I now enjoy sewing clothing for myself, family and friends; sample sewing, and pattern testing for indie designers. Sometimes those projects make it to the blog, maybe. I've also been known to hoard patterns and fabric of all kinds, both new and reclaimed.

My first sewing space was a small area above our living room, accessed by a spiral staircase, dubbed "the sewing loft." We've since moved and our family has grown. I now sew in a rather roomy creative space in the barn-wood finished attic of our 19th-century home overlooking the Ohio and Muskingum Rivers. The floor is painted a tint of aqua; you can glimpse my space via the tag #tealfloorsewingroom.
